Performing Arts Update
The 5/6 students have shown great motivation and enthusiasm practicing their roles during ‘The Wizard of Oz’ rehearsals that started this term. We are all looking forward to bringing the scenes together in the next couple of weeks!
Please note that the performance dates and venue has changed. This will ensure that more of our school community is able to purchase tickets for both evenings.
Our new dates are:
Cast A: Wednesday 23rd August, 7:30pm and
Cast B: Thursday 24th August, 7:30pm
Venue: George Wood Performing Arts Centre, Yarra Valley Grammar - 84-90 Kalinda Rd
Ringwood
It has been great to see our younger students involvement in the production through the entries in the Prep- Grade 4 Prop Competition. We look forward to announcing the winners at our next assembly.
If Grade 5/6 families are holidaying during Term 3, can you please email your child’s/children’s classroom teacher/s to notify them of your dates of absence, if you have not already informed them. This will assist us with rehearsals, costume and other related bookings.
Grade 4 Writing with Mrs Barry
Our talented Grade 4 students have been working on improving their writing with the purpose of informing the reader.
Please see the fantastic work of Zoe from 4K, informing you of a new area of our school that was constructed during the term break.
Over the school holidays Templestowe Park had a Yarning Circle installed near the Grade 3-6 playground. This space will be used by the whole school community. Yarning Circles are traditionally an idea from the First Nations people, a meeting place used for positive conversations, dance, songs and one where little judgement is placed. Our Yarning Circle has large rocks that are all a similar height spaced out in a circular shape. The idea of the space is that everyone can sit and be equal and have a positive conversation, regardless of age, gender or your culture. The whole TPPS community is looking forward to using The Yarning Circle in a safe, happy and positive way. Zoe Schembri - 4K
Visual Arts Update
The construction of the Grade 6 Legacy Project has begun at last! The students have started their mosaics on cement sheet, inspired by the street artist ‘Invader’.
Keep on the look out for these characters, soon to appear around our school.
Well done Grade 6, your work is looking awesome!
