Around the Secondary Classes

Dance Troupe

During the first week back for Term Three, our Dance Troupe viewed the Sydney Dance Company in action along with being treated to a pre-show discussion and post-show Q&A session with company dancers, the Rehearsal Director and the Artistic Director.

The students heard what it takes for an idea to turn into an inspiring contemporary dance piece, how professional dance companies develop works for the stage, how they work with lighting, music and costume designers and how a career in Dance can take you all over the world.

Year 10 Psychology

Year 10 students who study Psychology as an elective  have been exploring the different parts of the brain through hands-on activities. Our brains are  remarkable organs. They control every aspect of our thoughts, emotions and behaviours.  To better understand the brain's structure, the class embarked on a creative project involving Play-Doh brains. Crafting these models allowed students to visualise and grasp the concepts more tangibly, fostering a lasting connection to their learning.

Secondary Enrichment News

During the school holidays, Year 9 student Lucy Allen had the opportunity to attend the UN Youth Australia’s National Conference in Perth, WA.  This was an exciting opportunity for Lucy to meet and work with young people from across Australia to discuss global issues.

The National Conference was one of the best, if not the best experience of my life. I went into this 7-day trip not knowing what to expect, flying across the country and arriving in a city I had been to once before, and left with 60+ new friends, and experiences that I never could've even dreamed of if it wasn't for UN Youth Australia. There were debates, shared meals, speaker sessions, Bendy Bus karaoke, valuable life lessons, late-night spontaneous ice cream trips, and so much more. We even got a virtual address from Penny Wong!! This experience was a way for the world to hear the voices of passionate youth, and hear our views on important topics and issues. Overall my favourite part of the trip was all the new people I met, and the fun times we shared! It was an incredibly valuable experience to hear from people from so many different backgrounds, and it opened my eyes to so many different perspectives and ideas. I am forever grateful to all the people involved, from the Convenor, Facilitators and Welfare teams, to all the people who assisted me financially. This has opened the door to so many more opportunities, including several upcoming UN Youth events in which I will be competing! Overall, this trip has given me tools that I hope to be able to use to, eventually, make meaningful change in our globalised world.
