Inside the Classrooms & Around the Grounds

Word Collectors

Students in Year 3 and 4 have been busy expanding their vocabulary! Some recent words we have explored are 'incessant', 'tempestuous' and 'impeccable'. We focus on learning the words meaning, and exploring synonyms, antonyms and the etymology of the word.

Abacus

Year 4 students had some fun using their fine motor skills and creating their own Abacus out of beads, string and icy-pole sticks. They have used their creations to help read larger numbers (6 and 7 digits). They learnt about the history of the Abacus and how they are still in use to tally a customer's bill in shops today!

Buddies

Our little and big buddies excitedly created playdoh characters, found objects to add something extra and created a cool little story!

Year 3/4  Buoyant Boat Bonanza!

Year 3 and 4 students were responsible for collecting materials at home to create a buoyant boat. They used mini teddy bears on their prototype boats! Lots of fabulous team work was involved.

Team Building

On Friday's, the Year 2 students have continued their team building activities. Last week they played the paper chain game where they had to reflect on key values and skills involved in working as a team, including planning, communication, cooperation and inclusion of all team members.

Japanese

With Hinamatsuri (Girl’s Day) just around the corner in Japan (3rd March) the students at Syndal South Primary School took part in a doll-making activity to celebrate this special day. The day is celebrated to honour daughters (girls) in families and wish them a long, healthy, and happy life.

Interschool  Sports

Our Year 6 students have been practicing tennis, rounders and cricket for the Interschool Sports which will be commencing soon.
