BOOK REVIEW
Charles C. Gr 5
The Amulet Series by Kazu Kibuishi
This series is set in a mystical land called Windsor and Gulfen. Emily is the main character with Prince Trellis, Navin and Leon Redbeard. Emily tries to restore peace in the war and uncovers lots of secrets. I recommend this series to people who are interested in magic and adventure.
BOOK OF THE MONTH – FEBRUARY
JETTY JUMPING by Andrea Rowe and illustrated by Hannah Sommerville
Milla and her friends enjoy being by the jetty. The friends are jumping off the jetty, but not Milla. She is feeling unsure as she watches on. She wishes that she too was brave to jump. Then Milla accidentally drops her bracelet into the sea and so she is forced to dive in to find it.
Sometimes a fear of losing something can be bigger than a fear of something else.
What are you afraid of?
Are you afraid of the water or things you can’t see in the water?
What would you have said to Milla to help her?
Jetty Jumping may remind you of a time when you were feeling unsure or it may bring back joyful Summer moments and adventures.
This is a great new read in the BPS Library.
LITTLE GREEN FROG
BY JACK BEAUMONT & HARRY BEAUMONT
Here is a book made in Brighton by one of our BPS families.
The Little Green Frog by Jack and Harry Beaumont.
This is a story about, ‘not giving up’.
It is a repetitive and quick read with a persuasive message. It encourages a positive approach and the ability to bounce back when at times it all seems too hard.
Follow the little green frog on his trail.
Does he make it to the end?
What does he do next?
The illustrations add to a beautiful watercolor backdrop.
This story will have your child wanting to hear it again and again.
