Meet Your School Captains

Melton Secondary College is honoured to have an incredible group of people as our school captains this year.

We have two groups of school captains, our junior school captains who lead our junior school (years 7-9) and our senior school captains who lead the senior school (years 10-12).

Junior School (Years 7-9)

Hi my name is Jqueen, I’m in 09B I love drawing (patterns and cultural things). One thing I’d like to achieve as a junior school captain is to gain confidence, make bigger changes for our school and make students at MSC going through tough times believe in their self :)

This year I would like to connect more with the students and represent their voice more. Not just the stereotypical, 'I want to make you heard' but actually working and connecting more with students, and getting them involved with a lot of big decisions. Something that I also want to help work on is Wellbeing Support and how we can get more students to feel comfortable going there, and understand that they can go there if they need help. One other thing that I also wanted to do, but I am not so sure of, I wanted to create a much closer and stronger bond between teachers and students, as this will help students feel comfortable and safe, and able to open up about mental health. A sentence about myself is that I really enjoy participating, and I am a very passive person.

One thing about myself is that when it comes to the things I enjoy doing, I put quite a lot of effort into completing it, otherwise I would put a little bit of effort in doing the things I dislike. One thing I would like to improve and achieve as a school captain is I would love to make sure that student voices are heard, so they can also help decide on what events we should hold at school.

As a student I would say that I am a person that will try most things, if I like the things then I will invest a lot of effort into it, but if its something I don’t enjoy, I tend to not do it as well. My goal as the school captain is to expand the way of how students can contribute to the decisions that we make.

Senior School (Years 10-12) School Captains

Melissa
Melissa

My name is Melissa Oloamanu, I am one of Melton Secondary College’s school captains and have up taken a few leadership roles before I received this honourable position. My passions outside of school are playing netball, family time and gathering with friends, these are important to me because I believe that these things/people are what put me in the position I am in today. The things I value most in my life is God, family, loyalty and connection, and I would love to build more of these values alongside with our STARR values within the MSC community. An aim I have for the school is to increase diversity, build confidence within students to be able to connect more with students, their families and teachers. I believe that everyone has a voice and that their voices have authority to be heard. We all have ideas, proposals and better ways of making this school physically, mentally, socially and spiritually better.

Hi I am Riccardo Samau and one of the school captains at Melton Secondary College this year I want to aim to make our students feel combatable a make our school feel like a safe place to be. I believe that it is important that are students knows that we are here for them and that there are support system for them at our school. I also wanted to be the voice for VCAL students and make it clear that VCAL is not a way out of hard study but a different pathway with just as much effort and skills in VCE. But my main objective is to make our students happy and well heard because with no students there is no Melton Secondary College.

My name is Kayley, I am one of the senior school captains. I enjoy reading and candle making. As a captain, I aim to create a supportive environment for all students through enhancing the wellbeing team resources and listening closely to students’ concerns.

Makayla
Makayla

My name is Makayla. This year with the other leaders of our school I plan to improve our thriving community the best ways possible by trying out different projects and ideas throughout the school year and then revisiting them later on to evaluate what works and what doesn’t. The people I grew up with have influenced me not only to speak up for what I believe in but to listen to what other people are passionate about which has been a great motivator for me to become a voice for the student population and to help bring our opinions to the teachers.
