Technology Update

New Machines and Learning Opportunities for students in Technology

We are proud to have been able to purchase 4 wood lathes with money saved in the budget last year. We have set these up ourselves, designing and building a work site for them that allows multiple students to work on them safely at the same time. These machines provide students with the skill of “turning” timber which can used to produce projects with turned pieces. Items such as furniture and household items from candle holders to rolling pins are able to be made by the students during class. 

It has added another layer of skill learning opportunities for the students from year 9 upwards in Engineering and Product Design subjects that enables them to design and produce more sophisticated projects. The students have shown great enthusiasm and excellent safe work practises when using the equipment
