Parent-Teacher Interviews
Dear Parents,
I am writing to detail some changed arrangements for Parent Teacher Interviews in 2021.
Parent-Teacher Interviews:
Due to COVID restrictions and the ever-changing landscape, the college has decided to again run parent-teacher interviews remotely this term. They are scheduled for 5 minutes and will be conducted via a Google Meet. There will be two sets of interviews this year – at the end of Term 1 and again in the middle of Term 3. Bookings will be via the PTO booking system. Instructions and login details will be provided by an emailed letter next week. Bookings will open late afternoon (5pm) on Friday 19th March. Students should be present with their parents at the interviews. Interview times:
Tuesday 30th March: 1:30pm – 8:30pm. Monday bell times, classes dismissed at 12:15pm.
Wednesday 31st March: 10:00am – 8:30pm. No classes this day.
Monday 29th March: 2:45pm – 4:15pm Some staff only are available for an additional interview session.
These parent-teacher interviews will be for first-term classes. We conduct our Parent/Teacher/Student interviews in Term 1 as we believe that early contact with parents is an essential element in a successful study. Teachers are readily available to have appointments with all of their students. The primary purpose is to communicate with parents, informing you of your sons’ progress, and areas for improvement in Term 2. For all subjects in Semester, there will be a full report available by the end of Term 2.
Parents are requested to be logged on prior to the interview times, and to request access to the google meet at the start time. Parents, if possible, are requested to log on via a personal or home computer that will NOT have a Mazenod google account open in the background. They will then request access to the google meet, and teachers will let them in when previous interviews are completed.
Work habits Rubric and Assessment Task Results and Comments
As part of our reporting process this semester, each student will be asked to complete the Colleges work habits rubric, where they self-rated on their effort, organisation, behaviour and work rate during Term 1.
They complete the work habits rubric in all classes. Early in Term 2, all students will complete a self-reflection on their work and progress in Term 1 and a goal setting exercise for Term 2. Their written reflection and goals will be published by the students to their ePortfolio on MAZCOM, where it is viewable by parents.
Parents can find their students' assessment results, teacher comments and work habits self-reflection on the grades page for all their subjects.
See the following information that helps parents access results, comments and student work on the ePortfolio.
