Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

The liturgical season of Lent begins today, Ash Wednesday. In Pope Francis' message for Lent 2021, the pope asks people to “experience Lent with love,” which “rejoices in seeing others grow.”

“To experience Lent with love means caring for those who suffer or feel abandoned and fearful because of the COVID-19 pandemic. In these days of deep uncertainty about the future, let us keep in mind the Lord’s word to his Servant, ‘Fear not, for I have redeemed you’ (Isaiah 43:1).

The pope emphasized that even a small amount of almsgiving when offered with “joy and simplicity” can multiply, as did “the loaves blessed, broken and given by Jesus to the disciples to distribute to the crowd.”

At St Joseph's our almsgiving effort this Lent will focus on fundraising for the Catholic Church agency, Caritas, and their annual appeal we all know as Project Compassion.

“Love is a gift that gives meaning to our lives. It enables us to view those in need as members of our own family, as friends, brothers, or sisters. A small amount, if given with love, never ends, but becomes a source of life and happiness,” the pope said.

This year, our Year 6 Social Justice Leaders will lead our efforts to fundraise for Project Compassion. This is a very tangible way for them to contribute and experience the joy and fulfillment of doing for others so that they can become more.  Today, at the Ash Wednesday Liturgy, each grade received a Project Compassion box for their classroom.

Please support your child/ren in their efforts experience Lent with love as they :

St Joseph,

"Show yourself a father, and guide us in the path of life."  (Pope Francis)

Can I pick up my child early from school?

It is a legal requirement for children to be at school, every day, and for the full school day. Every day at school is important in a child's learning.

While many out-of-school activities seem important they should not occur during school hours. This includes swimming, dance or music lessons. Under some circumstances, approval may be given by the principal.

A regular appointment with health care professionals such as Speech Pathologists or Occupational Therapists during school hours should be discussed with the Principal.

Celebrating 30 years Mrs. Birac

Congratulations to Mrs. Birac who celebrates 30 Years of service to Catholic Education.

P&F Meeting 24 February

I encourage all parents to make time to join the P&F meeting on Wednesday 24 February at 7:00 pm. This is a very good opportunity to participate in the life of St Joseph's, meet other parents and support your school. The meeting will be conducted via Zoom.

Please note the change of date of 24 February.
