Maddy (Lok-Lok Eagles Captain)

Hello everyone my name is Maddy. I am super excited to be a Lok-Lok Eagles captain for OGPS this year. My favourite sports are soccer and tennis. I also love to snow ski. I have lived in the mountains for half of my life and I love it. I ride to school everyday with my friends. I have a cat and his name is Pepper. My brother was a house captain and I am happy to follow in his footsteps. Thank you for supporting me. Go Lok-Lok Eagles!

Bonnie (Lok-Lok Eagles Captain)

Hi my name is Bonnie and I am so glad I have the opportunity to be the first Lok-Lok Eagles captain. I am great friends with Maddy. Over my years at Ocean Grove Primary School I have made many friends, I have two older sisters Amelia and Lucinda and I have many cousins here at school. I enjoy art and sport. I love volleyball, netball, and surfing, I also love riding my bike with some friends. My favourite food is lasagne, I really like cooking and playing with my cat Daisy. For Lightning Premierships I am playing volleyball. I wish all of my peers at OGPS the best last year of Primary School ever.

Em Merrett

Hi OGPS! My name is Emily Merrett and I teach Grade 2. I grew up in a town called Echuca on the Murray River and I moved to Torquay in 2020. I absolutely love living in Torquay and teaching in Ocean Grove because I love going to the beach, I have even started surfing! This year I am very excited because I am building a house in Torquay, I hope I can move in before Christmas!

Last year when we were in lockdown my partner Chris and I built a chicken coup in our backyard from my old cubby house when I was a kid. Now we have 4 chooks that love to get into our veggie garden! The first photo is from the year 2000 when I was in Prep with my brother Tom and my sister Alice, the second photo is my chooks house in 2020!

Damien Horbury

Hi everyone, my name is Damien Horbury. This is my fourth year at OGPS after moving to Geelong at the start of 2018. I am currently teaching the wonderful Year 3’s of 3DH and adjusting to life within four walls after spending 3 years in the SLC teaching Year 6, but, I have loved every minute of it.

I grew up in Ballarat playing football in the winter and water skiing in the summer. I have one older sister and one younger brother. Currently I play football for the Barwon Heads Seagulls and I am really looking forward to playing (and beating) Mr Hebbard in Rd 1 when we play Drysdale. I barrack for the Bombers but we haven’t had much to cheer about for a while. I have travelled a little bit over the past few years, my favourite place being America. I especially loved the South of America, particularly New Orleans. It has such amazing food, music and culture. Hopefully I will get back there one day. I also loved travelling to Italy because my favourite food is any type of pasta. Our dog Bruce was the first baby in the family but now he is nearly 5 and weighs 58kg! He is a very needy Bernese Mountain dog who loves the beach and sleeping. Recently my wife, Samantha and I welcomed our first human child a beautiful little girl called Sylvie Jean. She has both her mum and dad wrapped around her little finger already. She is now 5 months old and growing way too fast! She loves dress ups with her mum and pulling Bruce’s fur.

I am really looking forward to 2021 at OGPS. It is such a great place to be and such a wonderful community to be involved in.

Kerryn McKeon

Wow! If you work here long enough, you get to be in the spotlight A LOT! Haha! The first class I taught at OGPS are all turning 23 this year….makes me feel very old! I do love to see them when I am out and about in the community and hear all the wonderful things they are up to. I truly believe that they get a great foundation here at OGPS. About me personally, I am an avid reader, in fact, I bought three new books on the weekend. One of my favourite summer pastimes is to read at the beach or by the river. My cheeky dachshund, Lilo, is four this year and continues to run amok in the household! She thinks she’s a guard dog and barks at all the people walking past and the neighbours! Finally, my two kids are big kids now….19 and 22!! They are both at different universities studying and they come and go. I love it when we are all together doing family things. I absolutely love working at OGPS, the staff, families and especially the KIDS make it an awesome place to spend my days!
