HUGHESY’S WIDE WORLD OF SPORTS.

This week is a huge one in sport for our school. On Monday I am attending a PD day in Ballarat presented by Netball, football and cricket Victoria. The aim is not only to update coaching accreditations but to find new and exciting ways to teach these sports.

On Tuesday a number of our students represented  the school in the District swimming sports at Kardinia pool. These students did really well to qualify  as the covid inspired times were extremely difficult.

The Division tennis titles will be conducted at Geelong College on Wednesday with one of our year six students, Otis Wood qualifying by coming second in the district titles. Well done and good luck Otis.

Friday is a massive day as every student in year five and six will represent their school in cricket, tennis, volleycatch, tee ball and basketball. For parents wishing to go along for a look all events will be started by 10am. The cricket and tennis will be at the Memorial reserve in Leopold, teeball at Drysdale football ground, volleycatch at Drysdale P.S and the basketball will be split . The girls will be at Leopold P.S and the boys at our own O.G.P.S.

Don’t forget the school cross country which will be on the last day of school for the term. It will be at Ocean Grove beach and will begin at 10am. This is for all year three, four, five and six. The year three and four students will run two kilometers and  the year five and six , three kilometers. Students are being encouraged to practice as much as possible for the event. Junior age groups will star first on the day.

Have fun and get out in the remaining fine weather.

Cheers, Hughesy.
