L’ Angolo Italiano…

Settimana 6

VIVA I PREPs

Beautiful Prep C and V had a lovely time in Italian this week.

We are learning LE PAROLE GENTILI, the kind words, both in Italian and in Auslan.

We focused on GRAZIE/ thank you, PER FAVORE/ please and SCUSA/ sorry.

Students did a great job practising them in a role-play, reading them out loud and colouring their worksheets.  Splendidi!

GRADE 3&4s: PEN PALS updates

Our Pen Pals from Italy sent a few photos and updates this week. Hurrah!

Students from Scuola Primaria Leumann, in Torino, sent us few photos about their

school routine, the learning spaces in the school and lovely pictures of them with the pictures of the Grade3&4s in the background. Students made interesting observations while looking at the pictures, above all, noticing no uniform and the mandatory face masks that all students in Italy (and many other European countries) need to wear at school.

We will be writing and sending the letters via mail by the end of March!

GRADE 5&6s: I GESTI ITALIANI

This week, Grade 5&6s learnt about Italian hand gestures.

As we are investigating the sign language of Australia, we are also looking at this form of non-verbal communication in Italy, which is a well-known if not iconic type of cultural expression. The gestures within the Italian lexicon are dominated by movements of the hands and fingers, but may also include movements of facial features such as eyebrows and the mouth. Students learnt some hand gestures and practised them with their classmates. Lavoro ben fatto!

Statemi bene/ Take care!
