Principal's Report

WORKING BEE

Thank you to the following families for your hardwork at our Working Bee last Sunday: Bennett PC, Williams PV, Burden PV, 3/4E, 5/6R, Harris 3/4Z, 5/6A, Foley 5/6H, Wilgose PV and Blackburn PV, 3/4M, 5/6B.

Despite the low numbers in attendance at the working bee, we had a hardworking team who prioritised clearing out under the basketball stadium, pruning trees and shrubs and pruning the Grade 1/2 courtyard area.

The children did a terrific job of dragging all the garden refuse to the skip. Then Richard chipped it all. A great team effort!

CHAPLAIN'S CORNER

In the Chaplain's Corner of this week's newsletter, Robyn shares a terrific article about respect. I encourage you to check in with these weekly articles as they are informative and share practical tips and strategies.

A little sample of this week's article on RESPECT...

"Have you ever felt DISRESPECTED?  How did it feel?   Not good, right?  Like you I have experienced being disrespected and it felt BEWILDERING, HURTFUL, EMBARRASSING, MISUNDERSTOOD AND created ANXIOUSNESS.  Sometimes I felt disrespected by an adult and sometimes by a child or young person.

Feelings others may experience include anger, fear, and low selfworth."

The Chaplaincy Program available at ACPS aims to support the emotional wellbeing of students by providing pastoral care services and strategies that support the emotional wellbeing of the broader school community.

Pastoral Care means looking after the wellbeing and personal needs of students, not just their academic needs.

CANTEEN

We're thrilled to have the canteen back at ACPS and again thank our School Council for making this happen.

The ordered lunches were excitedly received by the students on Thursday.

Today saw the first over the counter sales for the year. Again, there was a buzz around the canteen as students eagerly waited to be served and enjoyed the food and/or beverage on offer.

Lunch orders available online every Thursday

Over the counter sales every Friday recess

Please go to the Canteen News Tab for the menu and how to order.

Sustainability News from Sarah Bailey...

Our Sustainability ‘Green thumb’ class representatives are currently being finalised for Term 1 and 2. We can’t wait to announce the team members in the next newsletter. I know both myself (Sarah Bailey) and other teachers have been blown away and our hearts warmed listening to the earnest passion of students as they presented their speeches. What magnificent role models and leadership we have at ACPS taking care of our environment, whether they secured a Green Thumb role for Semester 1 or not. What a privilege it is to listen and experience their passion, care and courage.

Whilst on yard duty this past week I’ve been having some chats with students about ‘frog bogs’ in our yards at home. It was then exciting to hear about the FrogID app that allows you to recognise frog species from their calls and contribute Australia’s first ever National Frog Count. https://www.frogid.net.au/ The FrogID team featured on ABC Landline sharing the threats facing Australian frogs and how FrogID recordings across regional Australia are making an incredible contribution to their conservation. You can watch it on iview.

FINAL WORKS TO OUR SCHOOL OVAL

The repairs have been made and students are happily back on the oval. If you haven't had a chance to do so, check out the new school logo on the side of the oval as you walk up the designated green path.

LUNCH TIME CLUBS

Lunchtime Clubs are a great opportunity for everyone to have some fun and interact with others, from all year levels, who have similar interests and passions! And that's not just the students! Over the next few weeks we will finalise our Lunchtime Clubs schedule.

This week Art Club commenced on Tuesday and on Wednesday Lego/Library lunchtime was relaunched. We had terrific turnouts at both of these clubs this week.

Have a happy and safe long weekend...
