STUDENT REMOTE LEARNING

Canvas Online Submissions
As students have been submitting some work onto Canvas, we have noticed that some things that are handwritten, aren't being uploaded in a way that is easily accessible for staff to read and then give feedback on.
Here are some tips when uploading work to Canvas that is handwritten to ensure that your work is easy to see and mark.
It is important where you can to still use your books and pens to handwrite work and not to spend too much time on your screens throughout the day where possible.
Welcome to Term Two & Remote Learning
Welcome to Term Two SCSC students. You will have received an email via Compass with information about how remote learning will work this term, and some instructions for tasks that you need to regularly do to support your learning.
The first thing each day is to login to Canvas and respond to your Mentor teacher's announcement. How to do this was included in the instructions that you received. We hope that you all had a positive experience so far, and remind you to make sure you spend some time outside or doing some form of exercise also as part of your daily routines.
Year 7 Remote Learning
The Year 7 cohort have embraced this new and challenging start to Term 2 with open arms and enthusiastic minds. We have been proud to witness how our students have navigated their learning and embraced this unique learning experience. Thank you to students and families for all your feedback and patience as we adapt to our online learning environment. We look forward to growing together this term, through engaging and fun learning.
We hope you enjoy reading the reflections of our Year 7 leaders, who have given us an insight into their initial experiences of remote learning.

My first week of school was scary, new and a bit messy. But I pushed through all that and focused, and with that I did a lot of baking and made some delicious white chocolate blondies and rainbow cookies. I also did some science experiments they took some time and effort but they were really fun along the way. I also got a lot of exercise done as well by walking my dog going for a run and just doing some yoga.
I thought the first week was going to be terrifying and it was but it was also interesting and different and that’s what I loved about it.
The first week of term is always the messiest and hardest week of term but once we’ve gotten used to it, it won’t be so hard and you can get a lot done in these times, with minimal distractions. Well as long as you don’t have a needy dog, a cat who needs cuddles, 2 chickens who need to be kept away from the other animals in the house, a younger brother say no more!

Hello, I’m Felix,
I can imagine that the first week of online learning was very different for some people but enjoyable.
I usually started work at 9:00 to 9:15 in the morning and worked to about 12:30 without a break which I found really hard. I take a break at 10:30 each day now which is easier. I really enjoyed doing the practical maths lesson and thought that is was fun to use items around the house. I find that going out at lunch helps me refresh after working hard. Some days I went on my bike or went on a walk with dogs.
For P.E. I have come up with a soccer drill with some cones in my backyard.
