Peforming Arts

News from the Performing Arts Room

Welcome back to a new term and what a strange one it is!

We are all adjusting to our lives, living in isolation - working and learning remotely. Things will change and be refined as we go as most of us are experiencing this for the very first time. During times of uncertainty and anxiety, music can offer a form of respite for our children and help to keep the children engaged in their learning.

Congratulations to the following students for successfully completing and achieving the next belt in their recorder levels:

WHITE BELT: Reese L, Katie J, Grayson F.

GREEN BELT: Hayley F.

These students all completed their recorder assessments remotely, by filming themselves playing their songs and sending them to us, or uploading it to their Google Classrooms. What an amazing achievement!

Instrumental Music Term 2

Our Instrumental Music Program will continue this term – albeit remotely.  All of our instrumental music teachers are offering online lessons, utilising several online platforms. We have trailed several of these over the school holidays and during week 1 of term 2 and I’m pleased to report that our Instrumental Music teachers and students have found these interactions to be positive, educational and worthwhile. We can offer flexibility in scheduling lessons: so lessons can occur after school hours, evenings and even on the weekend.

If you wish to continue with your child’s instrumental music lessons this term, please contact Peta Murray via email on: murray.peta.e@edumail.vic.gov.au

If you wish to take on a new challenge and begin remote Instrumental Music lessons, please contact murray.peta.e@edumail.vic.gov.au

Instruments are still available for hire to use during our remote learning program.

Singing Lessons

We have been very fortunate to secure the services of a singing teacher.

Adam McComb has been a professional musician for over twenty years. His disciplines consist of vocal, guitar drums and banjo. He has extensive experience as a professional musician, performing full-time and serving as a resident musician in some of the biggest venues in both Melbourne and Sydney. He has taught for over 15 years in both the public and private school sectors, as well as offering private lessons for all age and skill levels. He is a committed and talented educator, specialising in establishing a clear and direct line of communication with the student, along with a customised syllabus. This ensures the students’ progress at a steady rate, all whilst maintaining a sense of fun and play. Adam’s wealth of experience is brought into each lesson to help the student reach whatever musical goals they aspire too. Adam is offering remote/online singing lessons to students at a discounted price during term 2.

If you are interested in enrolling in singing lessons/vocal coaching, please contact Mrs Murray on: murray.peta.e@edumail.vic.gov.au

Take care of yourselves and your little ones during this time. Remember to schedule lots of fun and family time during remote learning. Children learn best when they are happy and secure.

All the best,

Peta Murray and Jess Syme
