Assistant Principal Report

Bucket Filler Awards

The idea behind the Bucket Filler theory is that each interaction with another person is a chance to build wellbeing. The theory developed by Clifton and Rath is that people have an invisible bucket and that by doing something kind for someone,  you not only fill their bucket but your own too!

Just because we are not at school, doesn't mean we can't continue to acknowledge kind gestures performed by members of our community.

I would welcome any nominations and would be thrilled to award these in our newsletter and during our online assembly.

Please email nominations to me via Compass. See our winners from last week below.

Activities and resources for students during isolation

The resource attached below has been developed by Catherine Delaney

from the EACH Health Promotion Team and includes great activities to keep children occupied during these extraordinary circumstances.

It includes a guide on how parents can set up a scheduled timetable together with their child to make working from home more manageable. It gives two key examples of what a scheduled timetable would look like not only for the parent but also their child. These are real life examples that have been tried and tested in a home where one parent is working from home as well as supporting their children to learn from home.

Lastly, it contains a list of activities that have been collated into several different categories such as ‘Exercise for indoors and outdoors’, ‘Mind Challenge Activities’, ‘Quiet Time Activities’, ‘Arts and Crafts’, ‘Cooking’ etc. I hope you find this document useful and enjoy completing some of these ideas with your children.
