Out and About the School
IMPORTANT- PLEASE READ
With the evolving COVID-19 situation in NSW it is important that we all continue to remain vigilant regarding the requirements around keeping our students and our staff well and safe. In regards to attendance please note the following from Catholic Schools NSW;
Students in regional areas should not attend school if unwell, even with mild symptoms of COVID-19.
Any person with any COVID-19 symptoms will be sent home and should not return to school unless:
- They have a negative COVID-19 test result and are symptom free. You will need to provide the office with a copy of the negative result.
- Students who do not undertake a COVID-19 test will not be permitted to return to school for a 10-day period (if no medical certificate is provided). Additionally, they must be symptom-free for at least 3 days prior to returning to school.
- Students who have seasonal allergic rhinitis or another condition that presents similarly to flu-like symptoms are still required to get tested for COVID-19 and return a negative test result. Where their symptoms continue beyond 10 days, students should provide documentation from their GP confirming their symptoms are typical for their condition. We understand this is particularly hard in Gunnedah. If the student develops new or changed symptoms, they should get tested for COVID-19.
COVID-19 Symptons
Fever
Cough
Sore throat
Shortness of breath (difficulty breathing)
Runny nose
Loss of taste
Loss of smell
If your child is at home, because they are unwell with flu-like symptoms, simply recording “illness” on the Compass Parent Portal is not sufficient. You ring or email the office and let us know.
You will need to let us know that you are following the plan outlined above when you call.
If you are confused about what to do please give the office a call to discuss your child’s situation.
It is also important to be aware of the continually updated case locations and venues of concern if you have done any travelling. These lists are updated daily.

We understand the complexities of work and sick children and this situation is not easy for anyone, however with the new strain of COVID and the rapid spread it appears to be having in Greater Sydney we cannot be anything other than vigilant and we need to adhere strictly to the advice of NSW Health and Catholic Schools NSW.
