Principal's Report
Living in a virtual world - again
While we remain in a remote learning environment for at least two more weeks, Thornbury High has been working hard to keep everyone connected as much as possible, while still continuing with important school events such as our Futures Expo, course counselling program, and Year 12 parent-teacher interviews.
One of the highlights has been the mid-year Academic Awards, which were a wonderful virtual celebration of student effort and achievement in another challenging year.
My thanks to all those staff, students and families involved in putting together and participating in these incredibly important and worthwhile activities.
Tara Mevissen wins top honours
Congratulations to 2020 Year 12 student Tara Mevissen who has been recognised with a Premier’s VCE Award for her outstanding academic results in 2020.
Tara received a Study Award for Excellence in Further Mathematics, a subject in which she received a perfect study score of 50.
The annual Premier’s VCE Awards recognise the top-performing students in the state. This year, 297 students were recognised with awards for their outstanding results.
Tara is currently studying Engineering and IT at the University of Melbourne and was awarded the $100,000 Telstra Innovation and Technology Scholarship for women.
Well done again Tara.
