Journeying Together in Christ

Term 3

'God, we ask you to send the Holy Spirit into our lives'

Many children received the Sacrament of the Eucharist and Confirmation last weekend. The remaining children in our school and parish will celebrate this over the weekend and next week. We keep them all in our prayers. Names from the parish Bulletin will be posted on our school's facebook page.

Opportunities

During the week our 5/6 children had the opportunity to try one of four sports (Netball, Handball, Soccer, Footy). They went away with smiles and returned with a smile. I remember being the same age and playing marbles. I think quoits was one of the other options.  I can't remember why I didn't play soccer or rugby league, but I do remember that I was excited because we were a small school and we didn't get to do things like the other big schools. We are grateful that the 5/6s had the opportunity last Wednesday in this ever changing climate of COVID 19. Many children across NSW and Victoria do not have this opportunity at the moment. At this stage next Wednesday will go ahead.  If some children are disappointed with a result, a team they are in or something doesn't quite go right at home, maybe a reminder of how fortunate they are may help them stop and say thank you to their parents or school.

Our 3/4 'scientists' had a great day exploring the world of science. The excitement in their voices as they showed me what they had achieved was rewarding. Well done 3/4 unit!

Our 1/2 children head off to Twisted and the Echuca wharf next week. Another great opportunity and lots of extra planning due to Covid 19. We look forward to hearing all about it.

Foundation were exploring the world of 'push' and 'pull' this week. They are growing too fast. I loved the thinking and explanations shared by some of the children.

Baby News

Congratulations to Hannah Dainton, Luke and sister Addison who welcomed Oscar Francis into the world on the 17th August. We wish them a beautiful time.

Uniform

On PAM we communicated that school shorts may be worn for the remainder of the term instead of the pants.

Sports clothes x 2 days

School uniform x 3 days

We will be warning children once, then they will be missing play if they come in the incorrect uniform. This includes socks. For any one off changes the teacher or unit leader will email families and no warning for out of uniform will be issued.

COVID 19

Obviously, we have seen the news regarding a positive case in Shepparton and some school closures. This may develop further before this newsletter is released. All communication will be via PAM (Information) and Email (urgent information). An alert via SimonEverywhere will be sent to make you all aware.

In the event of a school closure:

-DHS will contact the school and inform the Principal of what information to communicate

-schools have 13 template letters ready for many scenarios. Catholic Education Commission Victoria have links for all schools to access this information.

-Catholic Education Sandhurst Ltd (CES) assist Principals with all matters.

We have postponed Book Week activities due to the unknown over the weekend. We do not want families moving around Shepparton organising costumes. We will have a new date when we can.

Enrolments 2022

We have sent offers of enrolment to 2022 Foundation families. Please check your emails for these. Those waiting on offers in Year 1-6 will receive these in the near future. We have high numbers in 1/2 and 5. This is a healthy problem.

We are discussing options for the start of 2022 if our new building is not quite ready.

Building Update

See the final page of the newsletter for some photos.
