Team Update

Although the recent lockdown has meant the cancellation of the final two lead-up meets before CASSSA, we are super excited as we have received news that restrictions are ending, and we will be able to do the CaSSSA Carnival. We congratulate those students who have been selected in the 2021 Mount Alvernia Track and Field CASSSA Team. We are so proud of every one of you, your commitment to training, whether that be at Speed Squad or Thursday afternoons, as well as the lead-up meets has been so great to see this year, and some of the biggest crowds we’ve seen in years.

This athletics season, Mt A has broken some records of our own. For the first time we have required two busses to transport girls to and from Thursday afternoon training sessions and, at the second lead-up meet, we had over 80 athletes in attendance, making it the largest team Mt A that has ever taken to a Friday night meet. With training resuming next week, we hope to see you all back and working hard. As mentioned, the new date for CASSSA is Monday 13 September, so it’s important that you keep attending training, keep up your activity and nourishing your body with the nutrients it needs, to make sure you are all ready for the day, which is not too far away.

Sessions next week:

  • 6:45am Monday San Damiano – Long Distance Training (400m, 800m, 1500m)
  • 6:45am Wednesday San Damiano – Speed Squad (100m, 200m, Relays)
  • 3:00pm Thursday Picnic Rug (Return to School 5:30) – Jumps & Throws
  • Break 1 Friday Oval/San Damiano – Speed Squad (100m, 200m, Relays)

Hope to see you there!
