Water Polo Team

On Wednesday 14th Novwmber, Water Polo Victoria held its annual Primary Schools Water Polo Tournament. 12 NMPS players took part as part of Combined Schools Boys' and Girls' Teams. This was our first attempt and our the teams had some immediate success with Boys' Team claiming a silver medal! With a bit of luck it could easily have been gold with a close one goal loss to the eventual winners in an early game.

The girls team had slightly less experience but the newcomers came up to speed quickly and had a win first up, and a couple of one and two goal losses later in the day prevented a medal for this team as well.

Seven of the twelve NMPS players were newcomers, and six out of these seven have indicated a desire to keep playing regularly, which might give us a chance of continuing the momentum next year. Special thanks to Darren Steere, Essendon Water Polo coach for giving his time and the loan of Essendon team equipment, and all the parents who attended and supported on the day, along with Team mentors, Miranda Peile and Mietta Fink-Jensen.

The 2019 tournament is now confirmed for Wednesday 13 November 2019.  Any Year 4 or 5 students wishing to play, we can arrange practice for you between now and then so you will be in medal-winning form on the day! Please contact Torben.finkjensen@gmail.com"
