Message from the Principal

Year 5-6 Art Work

From Sally, Principal

I share a letter from a concerned parent.

The following letter highlights continued dangerous behaviour by families at this school. Please read, note and amend your behaviour when collecting your child/ren and make our school safe for all who come and go.

I remind you of how to use Kiss & Drop Zone.

1.     Drive as far as you can towards the end of the yellow rectangle

2.     Stop and remain in the car

3.     Say goodbye and let your child out in the morning OR let your child safety get into the car in the afternoon

4.     Drive away immediately to let the next family stop

Cars are not to be left unattended or stationary for more than 2 minutes. Alternatively and preferably, walk your children to school or at least part way to school. This will help reduce the traffic around the school and be safer for everyone.

Hi Sally,

It was suggested I bring to your attention the 2 minute parking problem that is occurring on the garden side of the school.

I know that the message is repeatedly relayed in the newsletter, however each day this message is ignored and abused by some parents/drivers.

I have gently spoken to a few parents, who to be honest have been quite rude and abrupt, and it appears to be the same offenders each day, morning and afternoon.

Naturally this is creating chaos at this pickup point.  Cars are illegally parked everywhere , because the cars parked in the two minute space have no drivers and are there from 3pm onwards.

As I regularly pick up my children, one being in prep, it’s actually becoming very dangerous, as there are cars all over the road, mums having conversations from car to car in the middle of the road and children crossing everywhere.

I have seen a few near misses of young children, who to be honest aren’t confident with cars parked idly and hence just run across the road. The  larger SUV and vans quite often cannot see  them clearly.

After an 11 year old Victorian boy was killed this term ,by a car near his school, it makes me very aware that the likelihood of this occurring at our school is very real, and truely something we do not wish to occur.

We should all be looking out for all the students not just our own children.

I realise this is an ongoing problem, I changed my drop off point earlier this year from outside the Cloud, due to the aggressive behaviour of drivers and vast amounts of students, bike riders and parents waiting in a small area. It seems the “no parking spaces” are also ignored and cars are double parked , with children running behind cars parked in the no parking spaces, to their parents car out on the road. Add to this three crossing points in a small area, it is quite chaotic.

My apologies to relay this to you so late in the year,  I feel trouble is brewing and I just want all our children safe.

Happy to assist you if you need my assistance,

Warm regards

A very Concerned Mum.

No Hat Shady Play - Hats for Walk to Swimming

UV levels are increasing as are hotter days. Please ensure your student has a hat to wear during playtime and for their walk to swimming.
