Principal Report

It would be remiss of me not to mention the passing of former Edenhope College Principal, Dr. Anne Longmire.

She gave me my first opportunity as a teacher when I arrived here in 2005 to begin my journey in education. Her passion, drive, professionalism, intellect, and her innate ability to connect and develop positive relationships left an indelible mark on me and many others within the community. She promoted creativity and encouraged staff and students to take risks, to seek new ways to do things and to embrace change.

Anne was an accomplished author before heading to Edenhope, having published a range of  historical titles such as: Nine creeks to Albacutya : a history of the Shire of DimboolaSt Kilda : the show goes on : the history of St. Kilda. Volume III, 1930 to July 1983 and Uncommon common teacher: Gwyneth Dow and democratic education

Anne left the College in the early stages of 2006 to semi-retire and pursue other interests. In 2011, Anne released a book titled ‘The Catalysts: Change and Continuity 1910-2010 which went on to some acclaim being awarded Best Print Publication: Self or Community Publication in the Victorian Community History Awards, 2011.

Anne and her husband Ray were very active in the community, and I am sure that there are many stories and memories our wider community have. Anne will be sadly missed, but her legacy will live on.
