Principal's Report

It has been lovely to have a glimpse of sunshine amongst all the rain over the past couple of weeks, no doubt we are all looking forward to some warmer weather in the coming weeks. We are thinking of all the communities that have been impacted by the floods.

This week our Grade 2 students have enjoyed a learning experience beyond the classroom along with an overnight stay in Port Fairy. I believe sand sculptures and kite making were quite popular amongst the many fun and engaging activities the teachers planned.

I would like to congratulate all the students for their exceptional behaviour and thank Sally Kilpatrick, Essie Rogers and the Grade 1/2 team for their organisation and committing to time away from their families to support such experiences for our students.

As we approach the middle of Term 4, I acknowledge the anxieties that students and families may be feeling in anticipation of next year. Our grade 6 students are preparing for their transition into secondary school, pre-school children are preparing for transition to school and each year level is preparing for their next stage of learning at WEPS. We are in a very fortunate position to have exceptionally supportive staff who will work with every student to promote a positive transition into next year.  To support this process, we are giving you the opportunity to share your perspective by completing the 2023 in the making document attached and return to your classroom teacher by Friday 4th November.

This month we are celebrating Jimmy for his 35 years of service and exceptional dedication to Warrnambool East PS. I think you would all agree that Jimmy is an integral part of our school community and I personally feel very privileged to work with him.

We are celebrating Jimmy at assembly tomorrow afternoon and thank him for his hard work not only to make our school beautiful, but also acknowledge the strong connection he has with students, staff and families.

 Mr Boxer's Thoughts

Jimmy's favourite memory was when he accompanied Mr Milliard, Mrs Sharp and Mrs Ledin and the girls cricket team to the National Championships at the MCG in Melbourne. He remembers that after they won Mrs Sharp and Mrs Ledin shouted them all MacDonalds on the way back.

Mr Boxers favourite thing about WEPS is the kids and his chickens.

His biggest accomplishment is the Garden Awards where you would enter and Celebrity Gardens would come to your school. He said they arrived on a helicopter and landed on the Jones Oval to come and inspect the school. They won a couple of times and Jimmy was very proud.
