Mr Liam Beatty, Head of Primary School
Dear Primary Families,
The image of the three violets below unites all members of the Marist Family across the world. As many of you would know, these violets represent Simplicity, Humility and Modesty which are the three basis spiritual attitudes that St Marcellin wanted Marists to be underpinned by.
As our term draws to a close, it gives us time to reflect on the time we have had together and reflect on the learnings from both the and challenging times presented to us. Upon reflection, I am proud to say that these three violets have certainly been evident in the Primary School during Term 3. I wish you and your families a safe and relaxing holiday break as we continue to enjoy the wonderful Spring weather. Term 4 will commence for students on Wednesday 5 October. Boys are to return to wearing their summer uniform next term, it may be an idea to check that these uniforms still fit after two terms in winter uniform and that there are no haircuts inspired by any of the stars of the footy finals. [Go the Lions!]
Tomorrow morning students are asked to be at school by 7:45am for our Primary School Mass which commences in The Chapel at 8:00am. This is an important opportunity for our community to come together to celebrate the Eucharist and give thanks for our term together. Thank you to Marist Voices and the Music Department who will be leading our hymns for the occasion. We will also be presenting our Men of Courage and Love of Work Awards at the conclusion of Mass.
Congratulations to Henry Walker, Lucas Weigl, Kayden Kyoung, JD Cootes, Callum Nowers and Olivier Canning who are now State Champions after winning the State Tournament of the Minds Final on Saturday. Congratulations gentlemen! Thank you to Mrs Rhonda Carson, Mrs Majella Stevens, and the families of each of the boys for all their work in preparing them for this success.
Congratulations to Lleyton Viljoen, Pedro Chadud and Gabriel Pua for their participation in GRIPPS ‘The Gap Regional Instrumental Primary Performers School’ last week. The boys represented the College with pride and put on a fantastic concert that was the culmination of a week full of rehearsals.
A reminder that bookings for our Term 4 2022 Parent/Teacher/Student Interviews close this Thursday 15 September at 7:00pm. Please see the communication from Mr Bruce McPhee (Deputy Head of College) for more information regarding this important event.
This Friday will be an exciting day of transition across the College as we conduct our Year 5 and Year 7 2023 Orientation Days. Our current Year 6 families have been sent information regarding the Year 7 2023 Parent Information Evenings and Orientation Day.
As our Year 6 boys start to prepare for the transition across to the Secondary School I would like to draw your attention to Marist Extend. Announced by Michael Newman recently, Marist Extend is an exciting new program open to Year 7 students in 2023. Providing boys with the opportunity to extend their day beyond the final bell, the Marist Extend program provides Year 7 students with the unique opportunity to participate in their chosen co-curricular activities, share a meal with their mates and receive academic support in evening study. I encourage you to visit the Marist Extend website or contact our Head of Boarding, Jim Noble for more information.
If any of these items belong to your son (or household) please get them to take them home before the end of term.
