Marash Libraries

Before we break for the September holidays we would like to invite all boys to borrow a book to read.

Year 10 and 11 Subject Changes

Subject changes are now open for Year 10 and 11 students.

For Year 11 students, this is the last opportunity to change subjects across senior school. No subject changes can occur across Unit 3 and 4 of study.

For Year 10 students, any subject changes for Term 4 should align with the subjects chosen for study in Year 11 and 12 as per the SET Plan.

To change subjects, Year 10 and 11 students are to see Mrs Franklin or Ms Smeed via the Studies Office before school, at break time or after school. Subject changes must be completed by Friday 14th October (end of Week 2, Term 4).

Year 12 Study Extension Holiday Program

The Study Extension Holiday Program will run from Wednesday 21st - Wednesday 28th September (excluding the Thursday 22nd public holiday and the weekend). This program sees the library open from 10am-4pm each day for Year 12 students to access for individual or group revision prior to External Assessment. There will also be several subject teachers who will stop by to answer questions as well as extra resources available for students to access. All normal library rules will apply. In addition, students will need to sign in and sign out when arrival/departing.

Year 12 Night Study Sessions

The weekly study session is available to all Year 12 students who wish to work in collaboration with their peers for assessment, revision, classwork or external exam preparation. The Science Centre is open and supervised from 5:00pm-8:00pm on Wednesday night; students can arrive and leave as required. Customary student behaviour expectations apply; if these cannot be met, boys will be prohibited from returning to future sessions.

Year 12 Masterclasses

In order to prepare students sitting External Exams, the College has developed a Masterclass timetable that allows targeted revision in a class of each student’s choosing. Masterclasses will run from Week 1 – Week 3 in Term 4. The Masterclass timetable has been presented to students and sign-up procedures emailed to both students and parents.

The Masterclass timetable provides students with two sessions per day, one starting at 8:50am (period 1) and the other at the commencement of period 4. Students are only required to attend these classes (not Pastoral Group) and can leave once their sessions have finished. For students who complete less than six General subjects, this will mean they may leave the campus after the morning session or not arrive on campus until the afternoon session.

For all Masterclasses, students will need to be dressed in full school uniform and ensure they have all required equipment for their subjects (e.g. calculators). Rooms, where each of the Masterclasses will be held, will be emailed to each of the boys at the start of next term.

The External Exam block runs from Monday 24th October to Tuesday 15th November. The External Exam block schedule, as well as the required equipment lists, are available on the Marist portal and on the QCAA website.

For boys who are not enrolled in any General classes and therefore, will not be required at General subject Masterclasses, the College is running VOC masterclasses across weeks 1-3 of Term 4. These classes are designed around the concept of life skills required after school. While these classes are designed for students not completing General subject Masterclasses if your son has a break in his Masterclass schedule he is welcome to attend. Further information about VOC Masterclasses is available on the 12 ASH Moodle page or by getting in contact with Mr Peter Gaiter at gaiterp@marash.qld.edu.au
