Mr Luke McMahon

Prayers

We pray for all those in our community who are unwell or suffering at this time.

We pray for the repose of the souls of:

  • Patricia Hollamby Br Daniel’s mother
  • Gloria, Julie Tazzyman’s mother.
  • Pam, Antoinette Restell’s mother-in-law.
May perpetual life shine upon them and may they rest in peace.
May our loving God, with Mary and Champagnat, walk with all members of the Marist family. Amen

Reflection

The term is over, O God, and I commit its failures as well as its successes into your hands.
I rejoice in your tender care and celebrate your loving presence.
I pray that you will heal the wounds of those I have hurt and enrich the lives of those I have helped. I place in your care those I love most and those through whom you ministered to me this term.  Bless them and keep them and fill their lives with joy.
I pray that you may somehow reach those whom I couldn’t love, that other faithful servants of yours may convey your concern for them.
This term is over, O God, its blessings and conflicts and disappointments, it joys.
Help me to live the holiday with joy and bring your strength to the new term.
Amen.

Chaplain’s Corner

The Catholic Church dedicates the month of September to the Seven Sorrows of Mary and the feast day of Our Lady of Sorrows is on the 15th of September. When Mary and Joseph presented the infant Jesus in the temple, the old man Simeon prophesied that a sword would pierce Mary’s heart and this certainly happened. When she saw the humiliation and suffering of her Son in his earthly ministry and during his passion and death, she could not have remained unaffected. She accompanied her Son to the foot of the cross as he offered the supreme sacrifice to his heavenly Father for the redemption of the world. Her union with her son in his suffering was so deep that we cannot but honour her as the co-Redemptrix. That is why Jesus entrusted all of us to her care and protection whereby we become her children and she our Mother.

Mary, Our Good Mother, pray for us.
St. Marcellin Champagnat, pray for us.
St. Mary of the Cross, pray for us.
And may we always remember to pray for one another.

Sony Camp Cancellation for 2022

The Sony Camp scheduled for the September school holidays has been cancelled due to COVID and the particular nature of the Sony Camp, and in the health interests and well-being of the children with disabilities who attend the camp as well as those Year 11 students chosen to work closely with the children on the camp.

Presence in our MATES Ministry

Significant elements of MATES ministry are the presence and sharing of stories.  Great things can happen when we are present with each other and prepared to listen to stories.  We enter into a space of credibility, of honesty and of wisdom.  Here at the College, we encourage the boys to listen to each other, to interact with those they meet and to treat and to reflect on the dignity of each person made as a child of God. Holiday time provides us with a wonderful opportunity to stop and listen to, share and reflect on stories – our own and those close to us. Enjoy this time.

Stationery Aid

Run solely by volunteers, Stationery Aid collect, sort, clean and deliver donated stationery items to students in need. These items can be used or unused items. Started by one of our very own Marist families it is a great way to repurpose stationery items.

We are delighted to welcome Stationery Aid as part of the MATES program. The Stationery Aid collection bin can be found outside the Studies office.

Stationery Aid is offering volunteering opportunities in the holidays if any Marist College students or families are interested in assisting. For further information about volunteering or about Stationery Aid please contact Alison Schutt Founder of Stationery Aid at alison@stationeryaid.org.
