Principal's Report

By Carolyn Serpell

Welcome back to our final term for the year!

As always, we have another busy term ahead, with camps, swimming and special events such as a whole school 'Exhibition of Learning' on Tuesday the 15th November.

This Tuesday the Dental Van made a visit to the school.  Unfortunately, they were only able to attend for one day and were unable to see all of the students on the list.  All students were seen, were provided with a report. We have requested another date for those students who were unable to be seen and will update families when we receive confirmation of this information.

From tomorrow, students in Years 3-6 will have the opportunity to participate in a six week Martial Arts Therapy (MAT) program.  This program uses therapeutic martial arts drills, games, metaphors and stories, to deliver physical and mental wellbeing objectives in a fun and interactive way.  Our thanks to the School Focused Youth Service, for their support in enabling the delivery of this program.

Next Tuesday, thanks to support from Tennis Australia, all students will again have the opportunity to participate in tennis sessions, with local coach Geoff Hollow.  Tennis coaching will be delivered over 6 weeks, with all students participating in 4 lessons during this time.

Planning for our upcoming camps is now being finalised.  Thank you to everyone for their prompt assistance with payment.  If you haven't yet done so, please complete payment by tomorrow.  If you are experiencing any issues with making payments, please contact the office.

Many thanks to everyone who made a donation to our Koala fundraiser through last term's casual dress day.  In total, $117.70 was raised towards supporting treatment of injured and sick koalas, creating safe habitat corridors and the protection of forests.

Tomorrow, the Division Athletics will be held in Albury.  Good luck to all those students who have qualified to participate in this next level of competition.  Please note that transport and supervision at this event is the responsibility of the parent/carer.  Kathryn will be in attendance on the day, as the representative staff member for the Upper Kiewa Cluster.  In the event of a postponement due to bad weather, this will be announced on ABC 106.5 tomorrow morning between 7.15 -7.30 am.  Monday 11th October has been nominated as a back up day.

Next Friday and Saturday, Mount Beauty will be hosting a Writers Festival.  Our students will participate in the School's Day on Friday 14th October.  During the day, they will hear from several authors including our own Jarrod Payne, Carly Nugent, Amelia Mellor and James Phelan.  For more information about Saturday's program, please refer to our community news.
