ON Wednesday, 14 September, our Year 11 students attended the RAC B-streetsmart excursion to RAC Arena, which dealt with issues of road trauma, road safety as well as additional advice on how students can safely navigate their journey towards gaining their driver’s license.
Our Year 11 students joined with approximately 8000 other students for what was an informative, educational and at times challenging set of presentations. The importance of making safe choices when dealing with cars and driving was emphasised across all the presentations and made an impact on all those who attended.
Students caught public transport to and from the venue and I am proud to say that they represented our College with distinction on the day through their behaviour, personal presentation and friendly interaction with members of the public. The day proved to be an outstanding learning opportunity for our students, which I sure will stay with them as they commence driving.
One Monday recess, a special morning tea was held to acknowledge those Year 11 students who were successful in securing a Student Leadership position for 2023. We had 42 students express an interest in the 25 leadership places on offer which is an outstanding reflection of the leadership capacity of our students. Thanks go all of the students who applied for a position as the standard of all of the student applications, the preparation for the interviews and the enthusiasm brought by students into the process was outstanding.
The work for our 2023 Student Leaders starts immediately with a long list of commitments already in the wings for them including playing a critical role in both the Year 12 Graduation and the incoming Year 7 Orientation.
I would also like to express a special thank-you to Miss Isard who coordinated the Student Leadership process as in addition to her normal duties as Head of Prémontré. Thank you also to Ms Kyd, Miss Smith, Mr Beins, Mrs Quartermain, Mr Godfrey and Mrs Robinson, Mr D’Souza, Mrs Rogers, Mr Ah Fong and Mr Price who invested considerable time and effort in the interview process.
