Climate Canons

Sustainable success

Wastesorted Student Meet

On Wednesday, 14 September, 10 members of the Climate Canons from Years 7, 11 and 12 participated in the annual Department of Water and Environmental Regulation WasteSorted Schools Student Meet at John Curtin College of the Arts. It is an opportunity run by the WasteSorted Schools program, led by students. The Climate Canons were invited to present information of our activities at the College and were one of twelve schools present on the evening. The students spoke passionately about our initiatives and events and the audience were very impressed. The students participated in get to know you games and a speed meet, were they moved around in a circle for two minutes and spoke to different students from all over the city about sustainability projects in their schools. There were opportunities to speak with and learn from industry providers who inspired the Climate Canons with new ideas for 2023. It was an enjoyable and educational experience.

National Biodiversity Month

National Biodiversity Month is observed in Australia every September to promote the importance of protecting, conserving and improving biodiversity both within Australia and across the world. The Climate Canons ran a number of activities at recess on Thursday 15 September to highlight some of the country’s most endangered animals, some of the world’s most vulnerable animals and some of Australia’s most unique plants and animals. The students were involved in interactive and challenging learning activities to win a prize and we hope all involved had fun whilst learning something knew.

Zeroco.com.au & single use plastic

The Climate Canons have partnered with Aussie zero-waste company Zero Co in an incredibly exciting sustainability program.

The aim is to give single-use plastic the flick, make your personal care and cleaning needs easier, affordable and sustainable and raise funds for Climate Canons projects. Check out their website https://www.zeroco.com.au/pages/st-norbert-college (you may need to copy the link into a new browser) for all your personal care and cleaning needs, every dollar you spend on the suggested products at the bottom of the page helps raise funds for the Climate Canons future projects like composting bins.

Our school could earn up to $40 profit on every purchase you make, and for every $10 raised Zero Co will pull 1KG of rubbish out of the ocean on our school’s behalf.

So, what do you say? Do you want to raise money for SNC and clean the ocean at the same time? Use the link and get involved today https://www.zeroco.com.au/pages/st-norbert-college (you may need to copy the link into a new browser).
