University Offers

HSC students will receive their ATAR on Thursday 15 December. Students then have until midnight Friday 16 December to change their UAC preferences. It is important that students have the course they most want to study at the top of your list of preferences.

The main round of offers will be released on Thursday 22 December. All students will be hoping that they receive an offer for their first UAC preference. However, this will not be the case for many students. Whatever offer they receive, the student should accept the offer and then try again in the next round of offers which is released on Wednesday 25 January 2023. Students have an opportunity to reorder their preferences by Thursday 19 January for the round of offers on 25 January. If they want to receive another offer in a subsequent round, they should move the course they have accepted to the bottom of their list or remove it entirely.

Students can receive multiple offers from multiple sources, but it is important to remember to withdraw from any accepted offers if they do not intend to study that particular course. For example, they may receive an offer on 22 December and then another offer on 25 January for another course. These may be in addition to any offers they received from universities through direct application to the university, such as through the UTS Early Entry Scheme or the Macquarie Leaders and Achievers Program. Note that students do not have to list in their UAC preference list any of the courses they received an early offer for through the direct application early entry schemes.

Last Friday 11 November, UAC released the School Recommendation Scheme (SRS) round of offers. Approximately one third of the Year 12 cohort applied for SRS. Many students would not have applied as the university they wish to attend and the course they wish to complete does not participate in the SRS scheme. Further SRS rounds of offers will occur on Thursday 24 November and Thursday 8 December. Students will have an opportunity to receive offers from the SRS participating institutions in these subsequent rounds.

In the link below there is further information on how to manage the UAC application, including accepting offers and changing preferences.

Good luck to Year 12.

TAFE NSW YES Program

At the end of Term 3 and the beginning of this term, 15 boys in Year 10 participated in the TAFE YES Program where they had the opportunity to learn employability and foundation skills in a vocational context at TAFE. The boys attended TAFE one day a week across eight weeks, completing a short course in timber trades.

The experience gave the boys a taste of what it is like to do an apprenticeship course when they leave secondary school. It also provided them with an insight into the practical skills required to work within the timber trades. The TAFE teacher said that he would gladly employ each one of them due to their skill, diligence, and work ethic.

Congratulations to the boys for completing the course and to the boys that secured an apprenticeship for next year. They will be getting a two-year head start on their apprenticeship in an industry that currently has a shortage of workers.
