Co-curricular - Junior Sport

Week 6 Update

Sometimes we can get lost in the business of school life and can be blind to our growth and achievements. We need a light to shine on us to highlight just how far we have come. In this regard, I have been overwhelmed by the amount of positive feedback I have received early this week on the attitude, effort, and sportsmanship of the boys from the Junior School. I have been contacted by parents of St Patrick’s, coaches from our opposition, and sports masters of many of the schools we played last weekend. All of them speaking highly of our students and the manner in which they conducted themselves over the weekend. I am very proud of all the boys that took to the field, court, and diamond last weekend, and represented the College so well and on such a solemn occasion. I hope you are all proud of yourselves and your parents as well. Let’s keep up this fine example for the last week of training and round of sport this weekend. Well done boys!

As this weekend is the last round of sport for the Junior School for Term 4 and the year, all training will conclude at this time. Some coaches may ask students to help them by asking them to bring their kit back to school on Monday. If you are asked, please help out and take the kit for your coach. It is a small gesture that goes a long way. By now, all teams should have collaborated and together organised a gift to show your appreciation for your coach. There are still a few days left to get this finalised, so please make it a priority in your team to get this done.

From Monday 21 November, all boys in Basketball need to be returning their singlets. Singlets should be returned clean and folded to me at my office in the Markwell Building. Any student that has lost their singlet will incur the cost of replacement; this is in the vicinity of $65 per singlet. All singlets should be returned no later than Thursday 24 November.

Parents/carers are warmly invited to the Junior School Co-curricular Sport Presentation Night, Friday 25 November in the College Gymnasium. The gymnasium will be open from 6:00 PM and we aim to start the night promptly at 6:30 PM. All boys involved in sport this year, including Debating, are expected to attend. Boys will sit with their teams, with parents/carers sitting in the seats behind the boys. On the night ‘Best and Fairest’, Team awards, representative honors and the prestigious Junior School Sportsman of the Year will be awarded. Undefeated teams from both the Winter and Summer seasons will also be recognised. The night is scheduled for two and a half hours; however, it is dependent on results from this weekend. It would be great to see as many parents/carers at the evening as possible. It has been a while since we have been able to gather in this manner to celebrate the achievements of the boys. I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on this night of celebration.

Good luck to all teams for their final round of sport this weekend. Win, lose or draw, let’s finish on a strong team performance.
