Years 10 to 12

Senior School Report

Term 4

In my last report I welcomed Spring. Maybe a little premature for the Macedon Ranges as I am learning. We did have a touch of it and how the smiles came with it! Surely not long now. Right?

Term 4 has well and truly kicked off and the Senior School team have been busy preparing for all the special events and programs to come this term.

Year 12

Year 12’s are in their final week of school before entering into SWOTVAC (Study Without Teacher Vacation). This means that our soon to be graduates of 2022 should be buckling down with study leading up to their VCE Written Examinations.

On Monday 17/10 we have our Celebration Day return and with it comes the return to Graduation Ceremony. It is wonderful to welcome this tradition back to the college community and to celebrate our graduating year with their families, friends and the rest of the college.

Tuesday will be Funfields for this cohort and will mark the end of Year 12 classes by having fun!

Some Year 12 students have already begun their examinations with all the performing arts and languages students presenting for their performance/oral exams. Congratulations to all of you who have completed these, it is a big milestone that you have all worked really hard to achieve.

Year 11

Term 4 is a big term for Year 11 students. They have the pressures of completing all their coursework and learning outcomes within a short timeframe. They are also beginning to feel the pressures of becoming our Year 12’s in a matter of weeks.

There will be some who 2022 will mark their final year at GSC, and to you we wish you all the best for your future endeavours. You will always be an alumni of our college and we welcome news of where life takes you from here.

For the students returning in 2023, Year 12 begins on the 14/11/22! That’s 4 weeks away! Prior to that the students will have exam revision from the 31/10 - 3/11 and exams from the 4/11 - 11/11. Busy time folks!

Lastly in really exciting news is Apollo23 Camp!! Occurring in first week of term 1 2023, the new Year 12’s will head off for a wonderful camp dedicated to being in Year 12. I am thrilled to deliver this camp and I truly believe it will be the launch that every student needs to achieve their personal best.

Year 10

Doesn’t feel that long ago this large group of students took the big step into Senior School. With that big step came sudden new pressures, expectations and responsibilities. It hasn’t been the easiest road.

It is really important to remember that this group of students were last engaged in pre pandemic schooling in Year 7. This group of students have experienced being new to high school, then Covid, followed by new to senior school. For the vast majority I want to thank you for your focus, dedication and determination. You will very soon be our Year 11’s!

This term will see the culmination of the huge amount of work year 10 students have put into their market place program.  We are excited to see your stall on Monday the 17th!  Don’t forget to keep your receipts for any purchases relating to your market stall, you will only be able to receive a reimbursement with the original receipt!

This term for the Year 10 cohort will continue until the 16/11 when Year 10 Semester Exams commence. This date also marks the end of coursework and their Year 11 begins on the 28/11.

The Tomorrow Series continues their amazing work with the students this term with Tomorrow Woman module 3 delivered last week and then Tomorrow Man & Woman module 4 on the 14/11. An incredible series and so important for these young people.

Thank you to all the staff, families, guardians and external supports for being there for the senior school students and team thus far.  Let’s make this term a good one!
