Unit of Work

Our Unit of Work will be a History unit - School Stories of the Past and Now.  We will look at our school and discuss key sites of importance and how we value these places at our school. We will then also broadly look at how schools have changed over time. A part of this will include students interviewing someone (either a family or staff member) to investigate how schools have changed over a period and to compare schools in the past to now.

Your child may have wonderings about your past school experiences and perspective. It would be great if you could please share your experiences so students can gain an insight about schools in the past. Discussions may be about the games you played, what books you read, use of blackboards, what writing you did etc.

Students will:

  • Explain aspects of daily school life to identify how some aspects have changed over time, while others have remained the same.
  • Describe a site of significance in our school.
  • Use sources (physical, visual, oral) including the perspectives of others (parents, grandparents) to describe changes to daily school life and the significance of people, places or events.
