Middle School Report

It was lovely to see so many parents at parent teacher interviews on September 1. I am glad to see the warmer weather now that the year 9 students are preparing for city experience. We had assemblies this week and it gave us an opportunity to prepare the year 9 students for city experience. We have very high expectations for students’ behaviour on city experience and know that all the students will represent the school in a positive way.

At our assemblies, we were entertained with some great performances. At year 9 we heard the beautiful tone of new and talented student Blen Asfaw 9D who sang ‘Please don’t tell me you love me’ (we certainly “loved” her performance).  And we also heard from seasoned performer Rachel Pinto who gave us goose bumps with her stunning performance of ‘One day in your life.’

The year 10 assembly was equally entertaining. Edward Roussac gave a heartfelt performance of ‘Yesterday’ by the Beatles. We heard some strong vocals from a new all male band, led by David Wilson, and our regular year 10 band delighted us with Dominic Lay on drums and base almost simultaneously.

Next Wednesday the 9th of September many year 10 students will be getting a new free bike! Students were offered this opportunity and many have taken up the offer. It is part of the Beacon Program and called the Cycle of Happiness. Students will be assembling their bikes and hopefully riding them home. We are very grateful to Beacon for this fantastic opportunity.

On Thursday 17th of September we will be holding our year 9 Expo night where year 9 students will be displaying their projects from city experience. This is always a great night and we encourage parents to attend. Look out for the notices to come home which will outline the details.

Thank you to parents for your support in ensuring that students come to school in the correct uniform.
