Junior School Report

The Junior School has been very productive over the last few weeks. As we near the end of term there are more programs and activities which our students are involved in.
Parent Teacher Interviews were held on Tuesday 1st September and students and parents received feedback. It was nice to meet with families of our students to discuss their child’s progress.
The Winter Sleep Out for Year 7 was held on Friday the 4th Sept. Students experiences some basic sleeping conditions away from the comfort of home to see what it was like to be homeless. VCAL students assisted in the planning and organised games and movies for the students. They participated in a pizza meal and breakfast cooked by the teachers. Funds raised will go towards Mission Australia.
Congratulations to our Students of the Month. A canteen voucher and certificate was awarded for their politeness and helpfulness to staff and in the classroom in general.

Year 8 attended an African Drumming Performance by “Cultural Infusion.” This was an extremely engaging cultural awareness program. Students danced and even volunteered to join in with the drumming. The performers explained the differences in lifestyle and how the instruments are made.
“The Cultural performance was amazing. They played the instruments really well. I especially liked the xylophone. He really cracked up the audience!” Natasa Bui 8D

7I SEAL Class - The Writers Festival
“On the 26th August, 7I went by train to the Melbourne Writer’s Festival in the city. Before we headed off to the festival, we stopped by the NGV (National Gallery Victoria), to look at some of the exhibitions. At the festival, two authors came to talk to us about their books and some ideas on how we could write books ourselves. After the talk session, we had a chance to buy one of their books signed by them. We went to lunch then visited the State Library. We all had lots of fun and learnt a lot. We thank Ms Donaldson and Ms Harris for taking us on this wonderful opportunity. “

The St Albans Got Talent Quest has many participants from the Junior School. Good Luck- it is pleasing to see so many of our students involved in performing. We have also had some great performances at assembly with singing and dancing.

The Brimbank Walk is nearing for the Year 8 students. Week 3 next term, Year 8 will trek about 5 kms to the park and participate in house games. They will then enjoy a luncheon made by the teachers. Permission notes will be sent home soon.
Reminder - LATENESS: Just a reminder that students who are late to school in the morning will be required to attend detention. It is important for our students to be punctual in the morning and in class on time. Learning time is valuable and avoiding disruptions is important.
