Assistant Principal - Curriculum

Last week the Stage 4 Information Evening was held in the Rosary Centre. All aspects of life at the College were covered and I thank Mrs Raelene Maxworthy, Leader of Teaching and Learning, for speaking on behalf of the Curriculum team. For those who were unable to attend, Mrs Maxworthy spoke about the subjects that students access in Years 7 and 8, as dictated by our regulatory body the NSW Educational Standards Authority - NESA. She also outlined the positive habits and learning dispositions cultivated through homework in the early years of secondary education  and demonstrated both how to access the Study Skills handbook and its worth. Finally, Mrs Maxworthy outlined the role of assessment in Stage 4.

The Stage 5 Information Evening will be held on 24 March 2020 and an evening is planned for parents of Stage 6 students on 8 April 2020.

Interim reports will be published for students in Years 7 - 11 at the end of the Term. Year 12 will receive their Half-Yearly report very early in Term 2.

Recently at assembly I spoke about the very important value of integrity and connected it to various aspects of life at McCarthy. Integrity is the quality of being honest and doing the right thing in a reliable way. It is about respect and responsibility - and using these to shape everything that you do. Importantly, it also helps shape learning. Students who are proactive participants in their learning always act with integrity.
