Year 11 Physics Excursion
On 18th October I went on an excursion that many people could only dream of. For our unit on Flight for Physics, the Year 11 Physics class went to Moorabbin Airport to have a once in a lifetime experience.
It was a beautiful sunny day. The temperature was around 30 degrees and we all felt like sweating pigs, but what we were about to experience was worth the suffering. The time came and I was the first one to step inside the plane. It was a magnificent Cessna 152. The instructor taxied the plane to the runway and advanced the throttle, with a speed of about 65 knots we took off and what I saw next blew my mind. I could see the beautiful city of Melbourne and the stunning beaches of Frankston. It was a view to behold. I, along with the instructor controlled the plane for 30 minutes, which felt like 5 minutes. I truly had experienced something that some people (like the ones that do psychology) could only dream of. I was the most satisfied person on the face of this planet. After 30 thrilling minutes, it was time to get back to the harsh reality of life on the ground. The museum had an exclusive collection of old and some new planes. The museum was truly prestigious. Overall it was a once in a lifetime experience that I can never forget, hopefully.
To quote Leonardo Da Vinci “For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return”.
