Senior School News

Thank you to Mrs Loucaides for all of her hard work in the Senior School this year and best of luck as she begins her new adventure.

Year 10 and 11 students have now selected their subjects for 2018. The draft subjects will be posted outside the Senior School Office. If you have any questions, you need to see the Senior School team.

The exam period is fast approaching, so now is the time to Get Organised and Get Focused on your studies and revision. Students need to ensure they attend exams punctually with the required equipment. Parents are encouraged to assist students to prepare adequately for exams. Ensuring there is a quiet space in the house, away from distractions is important. If you have any concerns, please contact the Senior School Team.

Farewell Year 12, 2017

It’s nearing the end of Secondary School for our Year 12, 2017 cohort.

Monday saw all students finish their last day of classes followed by a movie night organised in the PAC with the aim of raising money for the Lighthouse Foundation. It was a fantastic night with many Year 12 students attending. Thank you to Lou, Tori, Emma and Lee for coming along and supporting.

On Tuesday, the Year 12 students ventured out to Funfields for as a group to celebrate their final day together. There were lots of laughs, tears and screams as students went down water slides, played mini golf, turned upside down on terrifying rides. A big thankyou to the Masterchefs on the day: Bernie, Shupu, Matt P and Carol.

Sporting Achievements

Congratulations to Raf, Lewis and Ana who all represented the college at the SMR Regional Athletics Finals on Thursday 12th October. In particular, congratulations to Ana who finished 3rd in her events. We are very proud of you all.

Year 11 Camp

In mid-September, 50 Year 11 students and five staff went on the Year 11 Ski Trip to Mt Buller.  The weather was perfect for skiing for the four days we were there.  We talk about 4 seasons in one day for Melbourne weather but the visibility on the slopes changed at a moment’s notice – one minute people could be seen on the slopes the next, we could not see one metre in front of us. Many students had not seen snow before let alone skied and they were delighted to have had such an opportunity available to them.  All students tried their hand at skiing or snowboarding and by the end of the trip, many who began as beginner skiers were taking on the challenging runs and having the time of their life.  The staff who attended were exceptionally proud of the behaviour students displayed on the trip.  Highlights of the trip included a snowman competition and snowball bombardment by sniper Ari!

Year 10 Highlights

Year 10 participated in a Keys Please presentation on 21st September, an excellent presentation about safe driver education and being not only a good learner but also how to help nervous parents be a good supervisor.

They have also been doing subject selections for next year. If students have concerns or want to make changes they need to come to the senior school office at recess, lunch or after school.

There are still places left for the Year 10 camp to Anglesea: 27th to the 29th November. The camp has been a fun filled experience in the past with students learning to surf and stand up paddle board.

If you’re still interested please contact Matt Robson, Year 10 Coordinator.
