Southern Metropolitan Regional Athletics

On Thursday 12th October, nine students competed in the Southern Metropolitan Regional Athletics finals. Out of these nine students, GEC won 5 medals! This is a terrific effort from only having 9 students compete on the day. Ana Garcia Landeira placed third in the under 17 girls 100m and 200m sprint. Well done Ana. The other medals came from our future Olympian hopeful Haddi El Shorbagy, who came first in all three events he competed in. These events were the under 13 boys Shot Put, Javelin and Discus which means that Haddi now competes in the Victorian State Athletics Finals at Lakeside Stadium. We wish Haddi well at the state finals and hopefully he can bring back the first GEC first place medal at a state level.
