Pastoral Care News

Welcome back to our existing families and a special welcome to our new families to the Marian community. It is hard to believe that we are already in term four and there is no doubt that this will be an incredibly busy period as we head toward the end of the year.

Already this week we have celebrated and acknowledged our student leadership team for 2020 and wished our current year 12s the best of luck as they commence their HSC exams. During the next several weeks students will take part in many extracurricular activities, continue to achieve academic outcomes and sporting goals, improve their culinary and artistic skills, audition to be part of our much anticipated 2020 school musical production and the C.A.T will launch their final activity for 2019; that is our Christmas hampers.

Our hamper activity is our biggest; and by far our most significant activity of the year. The importance of being able to share a meal and celebrate the birth of Christ creates a sense of belonging for us all and this is particularly relevant to those within our community who are isolated or experiencing personal challenges.

The hampers are donated at our end of year Mass to St Vincent de Paul who distribute them to families identified in need within the community. Each and every year the number of hampers grow and it is indeed a wonderful sight to see them presented as part of the "offertory procession" during the Mass and displayed at the front of the hall ready for presentation to St Vincent de Paul representatives. Each basket represents students’ offerings for those in need within our community.

More information regarding the hampers will be included in the next edition of our school newsletter; including commencement date, collection period and a list of items which are readily available either on special or at discount stores; keeping cost at a minimum for our students.

Together as a school community we have the ability to bring some joy to those less fortunate.

Students are now required to wear their summer uniforms. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you require assistance accessing suitable items or have concerns regarding other matters which may impact your child’s ability to engage positively at school.

I hope that you have a wonderful weekend and if you are fortunate enough to be visiting any of the open gardens or attending the multicultural festival events, that you have a brilliant time spent with family or friends and embrace all the wonderful things our community has to offer.

Finally, good luck to our seniors as they continue working through their exams; and remember Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out. – Robert Collier
