Here we are almost at the end of Term One! Wow! I was reading the information on our Safe on Social Media page, 'Parenting at the speed of Light' and it got me thinking about how so much of what we seem to do these days is done at the 'Speed of Light'. One wonders whether there isn't a time when all of us need to just slow down a bit, appreciate each other and all that we have to be thankful for. It's a nice thought.
The past fortnight has seen a whirlwind of activity at the school and by definition away from it.
There was the fantastic Aussie Bush Camp enjoyed by the majority of students in Year 3 and 4. All reports are that students had a great time and I thank Mr McLean and Mrs Oxley for their superlative efforts in planning and organising the camp as well as their supervision of it. Last week saw the long awaited Sydney Excursion which I know was a spectacular event. I know that all participants had a fantastic time and were really exhausted on their return. Again many thanks to Miss Jenner, Mr Wood and Mrs Riley for escorting this excursion and particular thanks to Miss Jenner for the countless hours of preparation that went into making it such a wonderful event for all. There is no truth to the rumour that Miss Jenner had to take leave for the remainder of the term just to recover. I am aware too that planning has already commenced for the 2019 Middle School Excursion.
In my last article I mentioned that we had successfully completed the recruitment of a new permanent Science teacher. I am pleased to officially announce the permanent appoint to our staff of Mr Luke Andrews. Many of you would be aware that Luke has worked with us for some time but as of Friday 23 March he became a full time member of staff. I'm sure that all in our community will congratulate Luke on his appointment.
Also in the last week I had a Pre-Tender meeting with Contractors and a representative from the Asset Management Unit in relation to the refurbishment of one of our Science laboratories and the Prep Room. This work is scheduled to commence during the next school break and be completed around the middle of next term. I am told that the second lab will be refurbished in the next financial year.
We are very close, as I suggested in the last newsletter to the announcement of the new uniform - we await only final confirmation of the embroidery. Once this is done we will formally announce and publicise the new uniform with costs etc.
In the meantime enjoy the Easter long weekend and travel safely if you are travelling.
Have a great fortnight.
