YEAR 7 NEWS

EPP Showcase

On Thursday 14th September, our Year 7 EPP students presented an epic showcase of their passion projects that they have been working on for the last two terms.   The outcome was not just about the end product but the process students experienced with idea collaboration, teamwork, working with mentors.   Students worked either independently or collaboratively in a group.  Thank you to all students, Year 8 Mentors, staff and parents who were guests on the night.

Scienceworks

99 Year 7’s visited Scienceworks on Tuesday the 12th of September.

We had general viewing where we raced against Cathy Freeman, tested our fitness components and also used tehnology to attach extra parts to our body in a game. We then visited the planetarium where we learnt about other planets that could possibly support life. Unfortunately, we learnt that there are no other planets or moons in our solar system that can support life – so we have to look after Earth.

Thank you to Mr Foley, Mr Holt, Mrs Earl, Miss Davidson and Pre-Service Teachers Will, Michael, Josh & Vinnie for attending the day.

Kids Teaching Kids

On the 7th of September 24 students attended to Kids Teaching Kids conference at Point Nepean. The conference gave kids the opportunity to teach other kids about climate change and sustainability. There were 8 other schools in attendance – some primary and secondary schools. 9 McClelland students presented to the other students at the conference. They were Phoenix Brennan, Candece Elliott, Marc Fakos, Mikayla Fountis, Eli Hakaraia-Graham, Rebecca Hokai, Claire O'Connor, Jay Russel and Sharni Russel.

After the presentations, students participated in one of many activities on offer that included learning about indigenous plants that we can eat or use to make rope, dolphin watching, tree planting and even learning about how the buildings were used at Point Nepean in the past.

Thank You to Miss Murphy, Miss Davidson and 705 for organising the day.
