What a journey we’ve been on in the kitchen this year, and how much fun we’ve had! 2018 has seen our students take on a culinary adventure enjoying “Food around the World”, where we have been able to showcase the many cultures within our school community. I would like to thank all those who embraced this and shared their recipes with us, in particular, Jodie Daniel, Vivian Chen, Nerys (Year 6 student), The Galban family and Chloe (Year 6 student). All of their recipes have been thoroughly enjoyed throughout the year.
Our most recent adventure was to France where Chloe from 6W shared a family favourite, French Crepes. We made both sweet and savoury, serving them with sour cream and herbs or fresh fruit salad. Here is what some of our students had to say:
French Kitchen 5C 22/11/18

Today 5C had a BLAST on their last kitchen session. In this session we made everyone's favourite French meal which was crepes! A lot of the students said that it was very sweet, yummy and delicious. At the start of the session we had a few challenges which was when we didn't know if we should have used oil or butter to grease the pan (in the end we used butter.) We also had another challenge which was when it was hard to flip. Lauren says that she prefers the sweet crepe over the savoury. We had so much fun eating the best French meal IT WAS SO GOOD!
Thank you also to our many wonderful parent volunteers who have supported and assisted students in the kitchen throughout the year, your help definitely makes a positive difference to our students. This year we also say thank you and goodbye to Sandra Semken who has been a regular volunteer since the SAKG program began at Kingswood, back in 2012. Sandra started helping out in her Grandsons classes and just stayed with us even when her Grandson graduated! Thanks Sandra, we’ll miss you!
Wishing our wonderful school community, a Merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous new year. Happy holidays everyone!
Thank you also to Planet hope, for their continued support of the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen program.
