Merry Christmas one and all!! Santa is only a few sleeps away from visiting your house and dropping off amazing presents for those children who have been nice. It is also a wonderful time for families to come together regardless of distance, life choices or just the ‘busyness’ of living in this fast paced world. We also need to remember that regardless of all the Christmas cheer, laughs, presents and games, for many people out there, Christmas time is a tough time of the year. Please make the effort to contact someone you know who might not be having the greatest day. Everyone needs to talk to someone on Christmas day. I have been pleased with the number of presents dropped off under our Christmas tree for those less fortunate, labelled with the gender and age of the children. It is a pleasure to see a mixture which I know will bring a smile to some young girl or boy's face. Christmas is about giving.
As we head off to our Christmas break, it is time for the teachers and children to recharge their batteries for a big year of learning next year. We are excited about the plans we have in place and where staff have been selected to teach, all in the effort to support our value of ‘we are here for the students’. We welcome a number of new staff: Jack O’Brien (5S) for Semester One and then replaced by Bree Morgan and Julia Clemente returning from family leave, Sarah Haig (Prep S), Neena Hunt (3H), Lucy Chesters (4C), Katie Airey (4A) and Jacqueline Smedley (1J). At the same time, we say goodbye to Louise McLeod, Sarah Jones-Hill, Michelle Dorais, Olivia Nesbitt and Jen Bray. We wish those leaving all the very best for their future. We also say goodbye to Ryan Nugent who is taking 12 months leave. We look forward to Ryan returning in 2020.
Kingswood is a community and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the School Council and Parent Club for all that they do for the school. This is also a perfect time to thank all the parent helpers, whether that be in the classrooms, in the kitchen, on sports days, garden or camps and excursions, without your support many of the things we do at Kingswood would not be possible. With total sincerity, we, the staff, would like to thank you for your help and support.
We also now say goodbye to a large number of families that have been part of the Kingswood family for years. From Year 6 we say Goodbye to the following families:
EDWARDS, NACHI, JACOBS, GALVIN, MARTENS, BELL, SIMPSON, SKRYPNYKIW, STEWART, LEMMO, SHETTY, FRANKLYN, SAWIT, SINGLETON, TRUONG, HIREMATH, LIDSEY, NGO, QIN, GREEN, YANG, DUONG, BAMFORD, MCKILLOP, ARMSTRONG, YUEN, POKIRI, WOLF, DOWNING, BURGESS, HIDAYAT, GADAKH, HEARN, MAHER, PIERCE, HALL, LE and finally, the RUFF family. From other parts of the school we say goodbye to the following families: LAM, UNG, KHATUSURIG, AULAKH, FALCON GALLARADO, MOODY, SANDY-HAYES, UNG, NGUYEN, SZABADOS, and finally the LANCASHIRE family. We wish all of these familys success as they move off to new schools.
