LEAP Club News

Last term LEAP Club had a visit from the staff from Spirit of Gold Coast to inform students about their Young Whale Warrior competition. Students were to create a video showing their passion for protecting marine life and their love for the gentle giants of the sea. The competition was open to all primary school aged students across the Gold Coast. Recently Spirit of Gold Coast announced that the entries were of such a high standard that they introduced a new category of Junior Whale Warrior. We are excited to announce that both categories of Young Whale Warrior 2019 and Junior Whale Warrior 2019 were won by two Palm Beach State School students, Summer in year 6 and Amelia in year 1. Both of these students are leaders in LEAP Club and have taken on an active role in the club since it started in term 2. Summer and Amelia each received a season family pass to go on board the Spirit of Gold Coast plus a great prize pack. Both girls will now have the opportunity to work on some environmental projects with Spirit of Gold Coast so keep an eye out for future updates. In other news, please remember that LEAP Club students are collecting the following products so that they can be appropriately recycled or reused:

Old phones and charges
Old batteries
Bread tags
Milk bottle tops

The collection point for these items is in the HUB to Mrs Krystle Devine or Ms Tracey Newton.

We are also recommencing our bottle and can collection this term in which 9 cents from every bottle, can or popper will go directly back to our school. Please support us by collecting these items and bringing them in every Friday morning between 8:00-8:30am at the Brooke Ave gate.

LEAP Club meets every Tuesday at 2nd break in the Rainbow Room. All students welcome to join.
