Lions Youth of the Year Quest 2016

This year Dromana College had four students participate in the LIONS Youth of the Year Quest.

This program is designed to encourage student interest in leadership and in taking an active and constructive role in the community. Each student participated in an interview with LIONS club members, and then spoke at a function held at the Safety Beach Yacht Club on Monday 22 February.

The students were required to give two short impromptu speeches followed by a prepared five minute speech on a topic of their own choice. They all acquitted themselves extremely well, and impressed the judges with their preparation, their knowledge of their topic and their public speaking skills.

The participating students and their topics were:

Jasmine Dietzel, Year 11: ‘The Power of Language’

Summer Jones, Year 11:  ‘Protecting our Environment’

Lachlan Setter, Year 11:  ‘The Country Fire Authority’

Amy Mills, Year 12: 'The Refugee Crisis’

Congratulations to each of these four young people on a wonderful effort, and a special commendation to Jasmine, who was presented with the ‘Public Speaking Award’, and to Amy who was the winner of the Club Final, and went on to represent Dromana Lions Club at the District Final in Mt Martha.

Well done, everyone!
