On the first Sunday of the school holidays the Cheerleading Team competed at the Australian All Star Cheer and Dance State Championships at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre.

The team have been training every Friday night after school with the goal of winning this competition. We competed against 8 other teams from both government and private schools. Our warm up was far from perfect and it was with extreme nerves that we hit the floor. The team absolutely pulled together and performed a near perfect routine for our level with only 1.5 points deducted.

At the awards presentation we waited for our place to be called and we were awarded AASCF STATE CHAMPIONS.

In addition we were also scored the highest scoring routine of any school in the state and therefore awarded GRAND CHAMPIONS.

A huge thank-you to our coach Megan Smythe for her “tough love” and for choreographing our winning routine.

A second team also competed on the same weekend. Thank-you to Brooke Ross who partnered me in our Jazz Duo. Our many late training nights paid off and we danced our way to HIGH SCHOOL JAZZ DUO STATE CHAMPIONS – BROOKE ROSS AND SARAH EMERY. Thank-you to Casey Jessop from Aspire Dance Academy for choreographing our routine and coaching us to a State Title.
