Year 11 VCAL

Revolution Rebels & Records

On Monday the 19 August, 2019, the VCAL Year 11 class went to the Melbourne Museum to visit an exhibition called Revolution: Rebels and Records experience. It covers events that occurred in the 1960s.

When we arrived at the exhibition, we were each given a headset to wear. The headsets played music from the era. As we moved into each section of the exhibition the music changed to represent the room we were in. Each room contained collections of costumes, artwork, furniture, books, films, photos and records. We were in the exhibition for 40 minutes, and afterwards the class had an opportunity to explore the museum.

One of the rooms in the exhibition was a screening of the Woodstock festival. We took off our headsets and watched the film. It was a large dark room with bean bags on the floor. The film played on three wide projector screens of bands and the crowd at Woodstock. I enjoyed watching it and felt like it gave me a sense of what it was like to be there. I had never heard of Woodstock before, so I found this interesting.

I had an amazing time at the museum. It was enjoyable and worth going to visit. We were lucky that it was mostly sunny because we had a bit of walking to do. I would recommend this excursion for other students to go to in the future.
