We AIM HIGH!

Goal Setting

During weeks 5 and 6 teachers will be holding Learner Goal Setting Conferences. The purpose of these conferences is to  catch up, check in to see how your child is transitioning to school and to support your child with identifying areas of strength and also an area to focus on.

We will be spending time in class preparing for these meetings. Your child will set personal achievable goals which they are constantly reflecting on and will collect evidence to show their progress and achievement. They are accountable for actioning self, peer and adult feedback to aim high and be the best they can be. Together we will set small and achievable goals based around our Lockleys North values and the Keys to Success (organisation, getting along, resilience, persistence, confidence).  These form the building blocks for success in all learning areas and are fundamental to students aiming high.

The initial conference can be rather daunting for some children. They may become shy and  not say

very much at all and/or may require a lot of prompting or talk comfortably about school. Please don't worry, all of these reactions are very normal. The important thing is that your child is participating in the  process of goal setting and talking honestly about their approaches to learning. We are sure by the end of the year, your child will be confidently reviewing and setting their own goals.

Reflection Journal

This will be kept in your child's navy blue book bag and is taken home every night and returned back to school each day.  In this journal, your child will have the opportunity to reflect on learning that has happened and it will also include classroom information.

Please see your child's class teacher if you are avalaible to help stick in the sheets.

Take Home Reading Books and High Frequency Words

There will be more information on this later in the year. Please attend the Initial Lit information session on Tuesday the 18th of February to find out more.
