We are active and healthy

Healthy Eating and Fundamental Movement Skills

Each day at around 10.00 am children will participate in a Healthy Eating break. This is a short break where we pause and refuel our bodies.  Making healthy choices and being active are both important parts of our learning program and link directly to our Health studies. Children are encouraged to choose a healthy snack from their lunch boxes including fruit, vegetables, cheese and yogurt. Please remember to provide a manageable amount of food to eat, e.g an apple the size of your child’s hand.

This term we will also be introducing a fundamental movement skill circuit. Being proficient in FMS enables children to participate confidently in play, dance, games and sport at home, school and in the community.

FMS focuses on body management, locomotor and object control skills and include skills such as balance, galloping, throwing, catching, skipping, running and forward roll.
